Thriving At Home

Adjustments (4).jpeg

Can I just begin by saying, I’ve been feeling immense pride over the last couple of weeks! I’m proud to be a part of an educational community that has stood up, stayed up, and stepped up to make sure that students and families feel supported. I’m proud of parents who, despite maybe being overwhelmed themselves, have transitioned their home to a school, gym, science lab, art studio, dance hall, theater, and cafeteria with little, to no notice at all. Most inspiring for me, though, are the kids! I’ve heard everything from, “It’s weird, I don’t like it” to “I could do this forever”, and everything in between; but what is consistent, is their effort. They’re doing it! Getting up, staying home, missing their friends, missing their teachers, figuring out hacks to learn concepts on their own, or setting up group chats to agree to group face time homework dates. They are figuring it out! And you are supporting them doing that. I am just. So. PROUD!

I think it’s important to take a moment and celebrate what we’ve accomplished. Yes, there’s a ton of questions. Yes, we still don’t know what’s to come from day to day, or week to week. But we have shown strength, ingenuity, and COMMUNITY.

Mrs. Walker is a full-time nursing student, mommy, wife, and last week took on roles you’ll recognize! I loved her creativity and fun! You can follow her journey here.

I’ve listed just a few great, free resources to get new ideas for activities, stay up to date on support available to you, and some academic help as well.

Need more? Email me! I’m happy to help.

Stay well, stay inside, and stay encouraged.

Happy sheltering. ❤️
