Frequently Asked Questions
-
We focus on identifying the reason behind a struggle, not just addressing the visible difficulty. Whether a student is stuck in reading, writing, organization, or math, we look closely at process. We adjust instruction in real time based on how a student is thinking, responding, and applying skills. This allows us to target the root cause and build lasting systems rather than temporary solutions.
-
We work with students across a wide range of needs and abilities, including: • Reading weaknesses such as fluency, comprehension, and spelling • Writing organization and idea development • Executive functioning and organizational challenges • Math foundations and problem-solving • Students seeking enrichment or an academic boost Some students have formal diagnoses or identified exceptionalities. Others do not. Many are capable but inconsistent or simply need greater structure and refinement. Our approach is individualized and adaptable.

We do not conduct formal academic or psychoeducational testing. However, we carefully review previous school assessments, private evaluations, and teacher feedback to inform instruction. Our focus is on targeted skill development based on observed patterns and existing data.
-
The first step is scheduling a brief phone call to answer initial questions and determine fit. From there, families may schedule a consultation, which is a structured student meeting focused on identifying skill needs and outlining next steps.
-
We value clear communication and partnership with families. Most students receive monthly progress updates outlining skill focus and growth. Organizational coaching students often receive weekly updates to support consistency and accountability. Our goal is alignment between sessions, home, and school.
-
Most students attend once per week. Some benefit from two sessions per week depending on intensity and scheduling needs. Consistency is important, as skill development builds through structured practice and repetition.
-
Sessions may be held: • In-office • Virtually • On-site at a school when coordinated In-home instruction is limited and based on availability.
-
Progress varies depending on the student and area of focus. Families often notice improved clarity, organization, and confidence within the first several weeks. Meaningful, lasting growth develops through consistent engagement and gradual release toward independence.
